Anwar Mansy was born in 1922 in an Egyptian musical family. He is the son of Abdel Wahab Mansy, a famous oud player and choir owner. His father made him learn to play the violin at the age of six at the hands of many experts in the music field. He also became among the usual musicians who frequented the royal palace to play. Anwar was the youngest violinist to perform with Umm Kulthum, and he played with great artists, including Mohamed Abdel Wahab and Mohamed Fawzy. He died in 1961 from a tragic accident, after falling from the back of a mare in the pyramids area in Giza.
