An Egyptian director who obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Department of History from Cairo University in 1961, then graduated from the Cairo Higher Institute of Cinema in 1963, then studied directing at the University of California from 1964 until 1967. At his beginnings, he worked as an assistant director for directors Fatin Abdel Wahab, Abdel Rahman Al Khamisi and Youssef Chahine, and then worked as a director in his first films The Killers. He is famous for working as an assistant director for the movies: The Land (1970), and as a director in the movies: Night and Bars (1973), The Orphan Saad (1985), and For Lack of Evidence (1987), as well as directing the movie The Master Scene.
