Syrian actor born in Suwayda in 1935, and he grew up in Damascus. He comes from an artistic family: his brothers Naji and Haitham, and his daughters Laila and Marah. He also married Haifaa Wassef, sister of star Muna Wassef. In high school, he founded an amateur theater troupe with his colleagues, and their first theater production was in 1955. He entered the world of professional theater in 1958, and made his TV debut on the series The Happy Vacation (1960), and made his film debut on Tailor for Women (1969). His most notable works include Hunting Men, Women for the Winter, and The Loving Gypsy. He passed away in 2008.
