Film director, critic, writer and translator, born in 1925 in Daraa, Syria. He was educated in Damascus, and graduated from the Institute of Higher Cinema Studies in Paris in 1950. Specialized in film directing. He was Head of the Cinema and Photography Department at the Ministry of Culture, Director of the Technical Affairs Department at the General Film Organization, President of the Union of Film Critics in Syria, and a former member of the editorial board of the Literary Week newspaper. He co-wrote the movie Heroes Are Born Twice. He passed away on October 27, 2017.
