An Egyptian singer and actress, born in the city of Tanta in 1933. She studied at the Institute of Arab Music, then was discovered by the poet Ahmed Rami. She became famous in the late forties, and performed songs composed by Mohamed Abdel Wahab. She participated in a number of films in the forties and fifties, most notably The Reckless, and The Girls Are Delightful. She received an award from the UNESCO for the children songs she performed. She died in 1997.
