An Egyptian director, born in Cairo in 1961 to parents who were journalists and political activists. She studied chemistry and microbiology before she was able to turn to the cinema in 1990. She worked as an assistant director with notable directors, such ad Youssef Chahine and Yousry Nasrallah. Her films include Salade Maison, and The City.
