A Palestinian director, born in Amman, Jordan, to a wealthy Palestinian businessman from Nablus, Munib al-Masri, and an American mother from Texas. She was raised in Beirut, where she lived most of her life, and graduated from the University of San Francisco after studying cinema, photography, and film editing in 1981. After that, She returned to Beirut and began directing documentaries. Her films focus on Palestine and the Middle East, and include Suspended Dreams (1992) and 3000 Nights (2015).
