Samo Zein was born in Kuwait to a Syrian family. Following high school Zein travelled to London to study Engineering and worked as a sound engineer in London for several years. He finally returned to Kuwait and began working privately with sound equipment under the name “al-Taghreed li al-Mo’idat al-Sawttiyah”. Thereafter he became well known in the field of sound engineering and many famous Arab musicians chose to work with him. Following his success in Kuwait he decided to open another branch in London but this was soon eclipsed by an opportunity to work in art and achieve greater fame. He received an offer to sing at a famous London restaurant where he said he received large applauses from audiences and from his friends and family who would comment on his style. Thereafter he decided to release his first album “Melly ya Helwa”. He did not expect the warm reception which the album received and he quickly won the hearts of listeners. Moreover he topped the rankings on satellite networks. He then began making preparations for his second album which incorporated new ideas, preparations took one year before releasing the “Anna Leik” (“I am Yours”) album with the Rotana company. The album won 11 Arab and international awards. Media sources described the album as one of the best albums across the entire world. What was fascinating was that his third album “Qaribee Leyya” (“Come Closer”) was the best Arab album. The album achieved unbelievable success and was sold in many countries across the world and in unexpected places. The real factor behind Zein’s success was audiences’ love for him and original thinking.
