He returned to Syria but was unsuccessful in finding work there, so he decided to return to Belarus, where he worked as a teacher at one of its universities for more than ten years. After that, he studied film directing at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and graduated from it in 2009. He now lives mainly in Belarus. He directed two films, the first of which is Guarantees for the Future, which is a 30-minute short film. The second one is based on the Syrian war and entitled I'm Still Alive, which is 7 minutes long. During his studies and stay in Belarus, he practiced the art of caricature sporadically and published his drawings and articles in Belarusian newspapers, especially the satirical magazine Vozhyk, in which he published his drawings between 1990 and 1994. He began writing screenplays in 1995 and was distinguished by his critical comedic style. Among his TV credits are Spotlight, Estate of Oblivion, and the Star Family series. He is also an author, who has 5 published books.
