Wael Kafoury is a Lebanese musician who is known for his good voice. Upcon completing secondary school, Wael travelled to Beirut to continue his studies at the National Conservatoire of Lebanon. In and around that time, and specifically in 1992, Wael noticed an advertisement on television for a program titled “Studio al-Fann” (“Art Studio”). The program was being aired on the LBC network and was directed by Mr. Simon Asmmar. Wael applied for a spot on the show and soon amazed Lebanon and the judge’s committee – which was heade by Mr. Romeo Lahoud – with his talents and voice. Wael excelled during his time at “Studio al-Fann” which saw him perform alongside Diana Haddad, Clauda al-Shammaly, Elissa, Katya Harb, Juanna Malah, Mo’ueen Shereef and Katya Farah. Wael received the golden medal and a special honor from the committee who praised his unique talents. Artist Romeo Lahoud (a Lebanese musician and stage performer) commented that Wael is the first amateur he has come across to sing with such professionalism. Moreover, whilst awarding Wael the golden medal Lahoud remarked by saying: “Today the golden medal is awarded to a voice we haven’t heard the likes of in thirty years.” Indeed, Wael’s voice is thus far unmatched across the Arab World.
