The novels Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov, which fully expressed the writer's philosophy. His other novels Humiliated and Insulted, The Idiot and Demons are of great importance and wit. A number of his novels have been adapted and turned into films, and his first novel was Poor Folk issued in 1845. He attended a boarding school during his childhood where he studied languages and literature, and after that he joined the Military Engineering Academy. Because of his involvement in a revolutionary movement, he was arrested in 1849 and exiled to Siberia till his return in 1862. He married twice.
