Saddam Kamel was the cousin of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and the husband of his daughter Rana. He was responsible for leading President Saddam Hussein's protection team for quite some time. He was born in Tikrit, Iraq, and studied at the Iraqi Military Academy. In 1982, he married Rana Hussein, Saddam Hussein's eldest daughter. He was a prominent figure in the Iraqi regime during the 1980s and 1990s. He held high military and political positions, including Commander of the Republican Guard and Head of the Military Intelligence Bureau. He was widely viewed as one of Saddam Hussein's closest associates. In 1995, he fled Iraq with his family after Saddam Hussein accused him of treason. They took refuge in Jordan, where they remained under house arrest for a year. In 1996, he and his family fled Jordan to Syria. He played the role of Saddam Hussein in the film The Long Days (1980). He was assassinated on 23 February 1996.
