Johnny Depp is an American actor and musician who was born on the 9th of June, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky. Depp first came to the public’s attention as the star of Fox’s crime drama “21 Jump Street”. Thereafter he transitioned to cinematic works and made a name for himself among movie goers through his successful portrayal in 1990’s “Edward Scissorhands”. Depp is well known for his portrayal of unconventional characters that defy the mainstream. His assumption of the characters of “Jack Sparrow” in the “Pirates of the Carribean” films, “Willy Wonka” in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Edward D. Wood, Jr.” in “Ed Wood” are examples of this trend. Titles featuring Johnny Depp have brought in substantial box office returns. Moreover the actor has been nominated for numerous awards, including three Academy Award nominations. He has also been awarded a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award.
