He is an American actor born on August 25, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Wayne State University and UCLA and served in the United States Air Force. His debut film was War Hunt (1962). Afterwards, he appeared in various films and TV series, including Cheers (1987-1988), Top Gun (1986) and Contact (1997).
