Ashley Judd is a talented American actress and political activist born on April 19, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. She was raised in Kentucky in a family of successful performing artists, including her mother, Naomi Judd, a country music singer, and her half-sister Wynonna Judd, also a successful country singer. Judd's film credits include "Smoke" (1995); "Norma Jean & Marilyn" (1996) for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe; "Where the Heart Is" (2000); "Kiss the Girls" (1997) with Morgan Freeman; and "High Crimes" (2002) again with Morgan Freeman. With an established film career spanning more than two decades, Judd has in recent years become more invested in global affairs and political activism. In 2010, she received a Mid-Career master's degree in public administration from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. She has been an avid Barack Obama supporter in both of his presidential campaigns. Judd considered returning to Kentucky to challenge Republican Senator Mitch McConnell in 2014, news of which stirred controversy his campaign released an attack ad against Judd in February 2013. She decided not to run.
