She is an American actress, born on July 11, 1956 in Meridian, Mississippi. She studied at the University of Alabama, after which she appeared in many commercials. She began her acting career in the 80s, where she appeared in a number of TV series and movies. She won a Primetime Emmy Award twice for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Sisters (1991), and Once and Again (1999). She's known for The Fugitive (1993), Gone Girl (2014), and Independence Day: Resurgence (2016).
