An American actor born on January 1, 1938 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He started acting in 1965. He gained critical acclaim for his roles in various plays, including Seascape, Dracula, and The Father. His film roles include Superman Returns (2006), The Ninth Gate (1999), and Robot & Frank (2012). He earned an Oscar nomination for Best Leading Actor for Frost/Nixon (2008).
