She is an American actress, born on March 25, 1965 in Nelsonville, Ohio. She learned ballet professionally, showing her interest in arts and acting at a young age. She began acting on Broadway at the age of 11. She gained fame for playing Carrie Bradshaw in the TV series Sex and the City (1998-2004), which earned her various awards and nominations, including two Emmy Awards and four Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. She has been married to actor Matthew Broderick since 1997 and they have three children.
