Norwegian playwright, born on March 20, 1828. He is one of the top international figures in Modernism in theatre. He wrote newspaper articles, worked at Det norske Theater (Bergen), and published poems, critical essays, and several novels that did not achieve success. From his plays: Love's Comedy (1862) - a satirical play that raised a storm of criticism, The Pretenders (1863), and Brand (1866). Ibsen wrote a wide range of realistic plays that discussed social issues at the time, such as A Doll's House (1879). Many of his plays were translated into European languages and Arabic and were performed in the theatres of Europe, America, and Egypt. He died on May 23, 1906.
