Jbara was one of the most prominent stage directors in the Arab region and one of the pioneers in the modern Lebanese theatre in the 70's. He was also known for his stinging words, absurdity, rebellion, and poetry. He collaborated with big theatre directors such as Mounir Abu Debs and Antoine Moltaka before writing and directing his first play "Death to Desdemona" (1970). In the 70's and 80's, he directed many plays such as "Zarathustra Became a Dog" (1977) and "The Dream Maker"(1985) where he worked with well known stars such as Reda Khoury and Camille Salameh. Jbara last theatre work was "The Murder of Inna and Her Sisters" (2012). He passed away on Tuesday, 14th of April, 2015.
