Indian actress and singer, born to actor Shakti Kapoor and actress Shivangi Kapoor in Mumbai. She studied at the American School of Bombay and studied at Boston University, but she dropped out when the producer of the movie Teen Patti chose her, after he saw her pictures on Facebook, to act with Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley. She was nominated for this role for a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. After her success in Teen Patti, she signed 3 new film contracts with Yash Raj Films. She then appeared in the comedy Luv Ka The End. She won the Stardust Award for Best Actress. She signed another deal with Vishesh Films to participate in Aashiqui 2, which caused her contract with Yash Raj Films to be canceled. In 2013, she entered the world of musical drama by performing the role of a singer in a small-town bar. Aashiqui 2 earned global revenues amounting to 18 million dollars.
