He was born in 1940 in the city of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq. He began as an actor in school activities and a director of private troupes. He performed in his city the play Cell No. 17 in 1959 before joining the Institute of Fine Arts. He graduated from the Department of Theater, and practiced theatrical work since 1955 when he directed the play The Falcon of Quraysh. He also wrote and performed in hundreds of TV and radio works. He was an actor and director at the National Acting Troupe in Baghdad. He published a book of three plays in 2011, and a book of four plays in 2012. He participated in series, such as The Stray Wishes (1989), and films such as The Long Days (1980).
