John Gavin Malkovich is an American actor, producer, director and fashion designer. Since the beginning of his career in the 1980s, he has appeared in over 70 feature films, including one entitled "Being John Malkovich." He was born in Christopher, Illinois on December 9th, 1953. Malkovich began acting in high school plays; he pursued theatre gigs until he accepted to the prestigious Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. He then moved to New York, where he soon won two Obie awards for stage productions. He earned his first film role in "A Wedding" (1978) which he followed with the Sally Field drama "Places in the Heart," for which he earned his first Oscar nomination. Since then he's appeared in a slew of critically acclaimed films like "Empire of the Sun" (1987), "The Killing Fields" (1984), "Dangerous Liaisons" (1988), "Of Mice and Men" (1992), "Con Air" (1997), the three time Oscar-nominated "Being John Malkovich" (1999) and "RED" (2010). He was also a producer on the hit indie drama "Juno" (2007), "Young Adult" (2011) and "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" (2012).
