Richard Jenkins is an American stage, film and television actor. He was born in 1947 in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of a housewife and a dentist. He majored in drama at Illinois Wesleyan University. Made his film debut in 1974, and worked consistently in films throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He became a household name with his portrayal of the deceased patriarch Nathaniel Fisher on the popular HBO series "Six Feet Under." Jenkins was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor and won a number of accolades for his performance in "The Visitor" (2008).
