George Hickenlooper was an American documentary filmmaker who was born on the 25th of May, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri. Aside from his documentary work, Hickenlooper has also worked on narrative film titles. George Hickenlooper was engaged in filmmaking whilst in high school and later attended Yale University where he earned a degree in History and Film Studies. His first documentary work, “Heart of Darkness”, was highly acclaimed and proceeded to win many awards. Hickenlooper himself was awarded an Emmy for the work. The documentary discussed the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s epic war title “Apocalypse Now”. Hickenlooper’s most recent film, “Casino Jack”, was released in 2010 and portrays the corruption scandal that surrounded Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff. George Hickenlooper passed away whilst asleep on the 29th of October, 2010.
