An American singer, actress, and writer, born on March 18, 1963 in Millwood, New York. In 1983, she became the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss America, but a scandal caused her to give up her title early. Williams has launched a career in the entertainment field, earning Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Awards nominations. Among her work: the series Ugly Betty, and the movies Another You (1991), and Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009).
