After...Read more graduating from Chicago Latin School, he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Wisconsin at Madison, and concluded his studies at UCLA, specializing in television production. In 1984, he began his writing career. He was tutored by his father and served as an unofficial member of the writing staff on The Young and the Restless (1973) series, and was integral to the creation and release of The Bold and the Beautiful in 1987. Having worked on the writing team since the first episode, he has been promoted to co-producer in 1989 and again to supervising producer in 1992. He took over from his father and became lead writer in 1993. He has received three Emmy Awards (2010, 2013, 2015) for writing out of 11 nominations, and has three acting nominations for Best Dramatic Series in three consecutive years (2009, 2010, 2011) among 9 nominations. His famous 1987 series, The Bold and the Beautiful, was shown in a large number of countries around the world. He has been married to fellow Chicago colleague Colin Bell since October 1991, and has 3 kids.
