Writer and producer, born on April 14, 1929 in West Hampstead, London, England. He was married to Mary Robbins, Sylvia Anderson and Betty Reitman. He is best known for his puppet shows with control wires connected to internal mechanisms that control the puppets' facial features and other functions. However, since this type of puppet makes it difficult to depict them walking realistically, his shows are usually science fiction series focusing on characters who operate futuristic vehicles, earning him an M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2001 Queen's Birthday Honor Roll for his services to animation. He came from a poor family and spent his early childhood living with his parents and older brother in a one-room apartment without running water. He died on December 26, 2012 in Henley-on-Thames, England.
