Adrien Brody is an American actor who was born on the 14th of April, 1973. Brody was born in Queens, New York to Sylvia Plachy and Elliot Brody. Brody’s father was a retired history professor and painter of Polish-Jewish descent while his mother, a photojournalist was the daughter of a Catholic Hungarian aristocrat and a Jewish Czech mother. Whilst growing up, Brody’s parents enrolled him in acting classes and he majored in Performance Art whilst a student at Queens College in New York. Brody first achieved widespread recognition when he was cast as the lead role in Roman Polanski’s “The Pianist”. Brody took extreme measures to prepare for the role – losing 13 kg and giving up his car and apartment. He also learned to play Chopin on the piano and was left by his then girlfriend. Adrien Brody won the Oscar for Best Actor for that role, making him the youngest actor ever to receive the award. Brody also received a Cesar Award for that performance. Following “The Pianist”, Brody has appeared in several other very different titles which include M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village”, Wes Anderson’s “The Darjeeling Limited” and the 2005 remake of “King Kong”.
