Carl Winston Lumbly is an American actor born on August 15, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Macalester College with a degree in English, after which he worked as a journalist in Minnesota and then moved to the theatre. He is known for Escape from Alcatraz (1979), Alias (2001-2006) and Men of Honor (2000).
