He is an American producer, screenwriter, director, and composer who was born in New York on June 27, 1966. He grew up in Los Angeles, attended Palisades Charter High School, and attended Sarah Lawrence College. He began his artistic career when he was 16 years old when he wrote music for the movie, Nightbeast (1982). He is best known for Lost (2004-2010), Mission: Impossible III (2006), Star Trek (2009), and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015).
