Gael Garcia Bernal is a Mexican actor and director who was born on the 30th of November, 1978. Bernal began his career performing in Latin American soap operas and telenovelas but left to study acting in London at the age of 19. Garcia’s film debut came in 2000 when he assumed a role in the Mexican film “Amores Perros”. That film received many accolades and even earned an Oscar nomination for the Best Foreign Film category. The 2000s saw Bernal’s film career gain momentum as he assumed leading roles in such films as “The Motorcycle Diaries”, a 2004 film adaptation of 23-year-old Che Guevara’s travel memoirs, and Micheal Gondry’s “The Science of Sleep”. In 2007 Bernal graduated to film directing and directed his first film, “Deficit”, in that year. Movies in which Bernal has assumed roles include “Babel”, “Letters to Juliet” and “The King” to name only a few.
