He is a Canadian writer, producer, and former lawyer, born in London, Ontario on July 3, 1959 to a Jewish family. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1979, after which he worked as a lawyer in Canada before moving to Los Angeles to work in television. He's known for the series House (2004-2012), Law & Order (1997-1999), Due South (1994-1998), and The Good Doctor (2017).
