Actor Viggo Mortensen was born in New York on October 20, 1958, to a Danish father and an American mother. He moved with his family to many countries including Argentina. He graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1980 where he studied Spanish and politics. His film debut was in Peter Weir's Witness in 1985. He's best known for his role as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He's been nominated three times for Oscar for Best Leading Actor in Eastern Promises, Captain Fantastic, and Green Book. He is also a photographer, poet, musician, author and painter.
