Barry Pepper is a Canadian actor best known for playing Sergeant Michael Strank in Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Private Daniel Jackson in Saving Private Ryan (1998), and Ned Pepper in True Grit (2010). He was born in Campbell River, British Columbia on April 4, 1970. He spent much of his childhood traveling with his family in a homemade ship. They spent five years navigating through the islands of the South Pacific. Without a television, Pepper's family made use of sketch acting as a means of entertainment. Pepper's other film credits include Seven Pounds (2008) and We Were Soldiers (2002).
