A British screenwriter, novelist, playwright, producer, and director born on January 12, 1948 in Lewes, United Kingdom. He was raised in a Roman Catholic family in Gloucestershire, and he studied English Literature at Cambridge University. He's known for Les Misérables (2012), Unbroken (2014) and Firelight (1997). He was nominated twice for an Academy Award for Best Writing for Gladiator (2000), and Shadowlands (1993).
