Norwegian director, born on January 17, 1921 in Shanghai, China. He was one of Norway's most prolific film directors. He directed 21 films in total, receiving the Amanda Committee Honorary Award in 1996. Among his works: The Woman's Place (1956), The Great Warp (1960), Tonny (1962), and Lovers (1963). He died on March 6, 2007 in Oslo, Norway.
