She is an American screenwriter and director, born on May 2, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She made short films while attending a Graduate Film Program at New York University, which she completed in 1993. Among her works are: Private Life (2018), Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), and The Savages (2007) for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
