A British novelist, playwright and journalist. He was born on September 13, 1894 in England. After graduating from Cambridge University, he worked as a journalist in London since 1922. His most notable works include: The Old Dark House, Last Holiday and The Good Companions. He died on August 14, 1984 in England.
