She is an American singer and songwriter who was born on September 8, 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She released her debut album Can't Take Me Home in 2000, which was a huge success, after which several albums followed. Her hit singles include "Just Like a Pill", "So What" and "Just Give Me a Reason". She also contributed to the soundtrack of films such as Moulin Rouge! (2001), and Happy Feet (2006). She received numerous accolades, including Grammy Awards and MTV Video Music Awards.
