He is an actor and a producer from Puerto Rico who was born on August 28, 1956. He grew up in Greenwich Village, New York City. He began his career as a social worker. He became known for Traffic (2000), Boogie Nights (1997), Punch-Drunk Love (2002), and The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009).
