He is an American animator, film director, screenwriter, producer, and voice actor, who was born on October 9, 1968 in Bloomington, Minnesota. He studied philosophy and art industry at the University of Minnesota. Docter graduated from California Institute of the Arts in 1990, after which he joined Pixar, where he took part in numerous animated films such as Monsters, Inc. (2001) and Toy Story (1995). He has won three Oscars for Best Animated Feature—for Up (2009), Inside Out (2015) and Soul (2020).
