An American film and music video director, producer and writer, specializing in the science fiction and horror genres. He was born on May 14, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, United States. He directed and co-wrote Lawnmower Man (1992) and is known for Virtuosity, Hideaway, and Sleep Deprivation. In 1994, he won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Special Effects in a Video for Peter Gabriel: Kiss That Frog (1993).
