An American screenwriter, novelist and playwright, born in New York, United States. He studied journalism, and joined the US Air Force. He married model Ginger Howard in 1954. He worked as an editor in several magazines before publishing his first novel in 1962. He's known for Splash (1984), for which he was nominated for an Oscar. He died on June 3, 2020.
