Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an Oscar winning American actress and has lately become one of the highest paid performers in Hollywood. Reese began as a model at the age of seven and appeared on several television commercials. In 1991 she performed her first main role in director Robert Mulligan’s “The Man in the Moon”. That role was followed by several other important roles in other movies including “Jack the Bear” and “A Far Off Place”. Following her graduation from high school she decided to enroll at Stanford University to study English but left after one year of studies in order to pursue her acting career. Thereafter she performed in two well known titles, namely “Fear” alongside Mark Wahlberg and “Freeway” alongside Kiefer Sutherland, both in 1996. Perhaps the best known of her following roles were in the 1998 film “Pleasantville” in addition to “Cruel Intentions” and “Election” which followed in 1999. She also performed in the 2001 comedy “Legally Blonde”, a title which was successful. Another well known performance followed in “Sweet Home Alabama” (2002) which earned more than 100 million dollars. In 2006 Witherspoon was awarded an Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in the 2005 cinema title “Walk the Line”.
