An American actor, producer, and writer, born on April 22, 1937, in New Jersey. He attended Manasquan High School. He started his career in the late fifties in Matinee Theatre, and The Cry Baby Killer. He is best known for his films Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, As Good as It Gets, and Batman. He was nominated for an Academy Award 12 times and won 3 times for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Terms of Endearment, and As Good as It Gets. He also won several Golden Globe Awards, including Best Actor for the movie About Schmidt.
