An American author, born in Michigan, United States. She wrote several novels and worked in the advertising department of the New York Times. Charlotte studied in Michigan until high school, then went to college for one year in Lake Forest, Illinois. During this year, she became editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, after which she joined the University of Wisconsin, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in 1925. Her novels were also adapted into a number of films, such as The Breach (1970) and Nightcap (2000).
