American actress born on June 16, 1955 in Carbondale, Illinois. She obtained a bachelor of arts in theater from Illinois State University in 1977, after which she started acting at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. She made her acting debut in a minor role in the film A Wedding (1978). Her most notable works include Roseanne (1988-2018), Toy Story (1995), Scream 2 (1997), and Lady Bird (2017) for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
