American director, writer, and comic book illustrator born on 27 January 1957 in Olney, Maryland. He wrote many comic book stories and graphic novels, many of which have been adapted into films, TV series, and animated movies including Sin City (2005), 300 (2006), and the two parts of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (2012-2013).
