A British writer and producer, originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts. She wrote for The New York Times and The Atlantic magazine. She spent seven years as a head writer for HBO. Joan wrote more than 20 plays and has loved acting since childhood. She wrote the play Don't Ride the Clutch, with which she participated in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Also, she wrote Off the Map (2003).
